Home-Made Deoderant

If you have been following me you will know that I have been detoxing my home to create a chemical-free environment.  High on my todo list was deodorant. It is full of chemicals that are highly toxic to your body.

One of the many toxic additives in deodorants is Aluminum–linked to Alzheimer’s disease. Aluminum is added to anti-persperaint deodorants to block your pores so you don’t sweat.

I’m sorry, but sweating is natural. It is hard for us to accept that we sweat, I mean what is sexy about stinky pits?

Why is it good to sweat?

#1 Sweating cools down your body

#2 Sweating is a way your body detoxifies itself

#3 Ever been attracted to someone who smelled good but was not wearing perfume? Sweat has pheromones that are intended to create sexual attraction

Why does it smell sometimes?

Sweat is basically food for healthy bacteria living on your skin. They break down the sweat to nutrients they want (carbs, proteins, and fatty acids). The stinky smell is a byproduct of this process.

Toxic-Free Deodorant Recipe

1/4 cup melted coconut oil

1/4 cup arrowroot powder

1 tbsp baking soda

(makes about 1/2 baby food jar). I made a small amount to test it so double to fill a small jar.

This deodorant will not stop you from smelling but will stop the stench + the baking soda will help absorb the moisture from your sweat.
